“Belt and Road: a new era for International Arbitration?”
Initiated by Beijing in 2013, China’s US$900 billion Belt and Road initiative envisages a modern-day Silk Road with maritime and land networks connecting China with Asia, Africa and Europe with the aim of boosting trade and economic growth. During this presentation, Robert will consider the key features of Belt and Road projects from a dispute resolution lawyer’s perspective, with a particular focus on whether there is a need for tailor made arbitral procedure for disputes arising out of this vast initiative.
